http://www.purposegames.com/game/southeast-state-capitals-quiz – A game to place the capitals on the map with the right state.  (Also great for learning the locations of each state!)

http://www.sporcle.com/games/trwrenn/SERegionstatescapitals – This game quizzes you to see if you can type in the correct capital, so spelling counts!  It also times you.  (You will NOT be timed in class.)

Southwest and West State Practice

Where in the USA is Carmen SandiegoHere are some resources to practice learning the states and capitals AND LOCATIONS of states in the southwest and western regions.

LOCATIONS OF STATES:

  • Owl and Mouse – Place the states in the correct location.  You can try it with or without state borders showing, and you can also work on identifying the capitals of each state.  All regions are available!
  • Place the State with Ben Franklin – Similar game, but it also shows you capitals as you drag the states.
  • Sheppard Software Place the State – An extra challenging version for the whole country!

Introduction to Timelines

We started learning about timelines in class on Monday. Because many students were out for an early start to their April vacation, I taught the lesson using Educreations so that kids who were out can catch up by rewatching the 20 minute lesson at their convenience.
